Our Sicilian oil is again a 100% monocultivar (single-varietal) early-harvest, unfiltered, extra-virgin. It’s groves are located in the southwest, between coastal Sciacca (where the terrific Recca brand anchovies are packed and exported — keep an eye out for them at your local stores — and Agrigento.  This area is known as the Val di Mazara, abutting to the east, the Colline (hills) Ennesi.  The olives grow at 600 meters above the sea level on the Monte Sicani, and more precisely the villages of Lucca Sicula, Villafranca Sicula and Burgio. They are harvested by hand, and then are milled within 12 hours.  It is a fairly dense oil, golden in color with tones of jade.  The fragrance is delicate, yet balanced with persistent herbaceous hints.  It has a well-rounded taste with an almond finish.  It is perfect for all fish and seafood dishes, salads, bruschetta, vegetable soup, and is recommended for couscous and various desserts.  This year there was a 50% decrease in production owing to weather.
